Staff Shortages – Are people looking for work?

We are hearing from many employers, that they are struggling to finds staff, indeed some saying they have placed an ad on Seek, and after 30 days received only 1 or 2 applications. In august 2021, in Victoria, 150,000  people registered as unemployed, however, 260,000 were claiming a form of unemployment benefits, showing a discrepancy of 110,000. We are also noticing a  large portion of those on unemployment benefits are failing to attend scheduled interviews. I discuss this issue on TripleM National Radio.
